I digress. This week we meet Dawn, the artist behind Treacher Creatures. She is delightful, so be very nice to her.
I am a newbie and I really wanted to feel part of a team of people who loved doing the kind of things I love..making plush.
2.) Do you have a favorite critter that you make? What makes him so special, hmmm?
I love making sock hamsters and flamingos. They are by far some of the cutest little creatures I have designed using socks. They seem to take on a personality all of their own.
When not sewing plush I am a landscape painter and have been for many years. The larger the canvas the better. I also knit with plarn, which is yarn made from recycled plastic bags. I love making jewellery from wire and beads.

4.) Its so fascinating how diverse a group we have. What corner of the world do you hail from and what’s it like living there?
I live in England, in a tiny village in rural North Yorkshire. I am spoilt with beautiful countryside, a great inspiration for my painting.I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
5.) What’s the craft scene like where you live?
There is a good craft scene in York, our nearest city, but it is very quiet where I live itself.
6.) Which actor would play you in a movie of your life?
Meg Ryan because I am small and cute but with a lust for life.
7.) If you were a pie, what flavor would you be? I like pie.
It would have to be my ultimate favourite, apple pie.
8.) Is plushmaking your full time job? If not, what’s your “real” occupation?
Plush making is right now my life and my passion. However, I trained as a lawyer but gave up my profession to become the full time carer of my husband and now a mother too. Plush making and painting fits in really well and helps bring a lot of fun into this house.
9.) Have any tips for working in your medium for all of our adoring fans?
My favourite medium for the last 2 years has been and still is socks. Sew lots and often and try to create not just animals but little characters with their own little personalities..this is something to which I myself am continually striving.
10.) Is there another fiber medium you’re curious to try? Tell us!
I have tried fleece though I find the lack of patterns rather limiting. I would love to try needle felting as I adore this medium.
11.) Imagine you are on a tropical island and can only take 4 things with you, what would they be? Extra bonus points if one of them is a hottie. (You’re being graded).
My paintbrush, sketchbook, box of paints and a sock creature for company.
