Beach Party - whoo hoo!!!

Summer might be in full swing, but have you ever wondered what your favorite plush makers like to do when the sun comes out? Well, they crack open their fabric stores, gather their crochet hooks, and stitch up the best beach party ever!

Back in June I shared with the team my tales of summer spent at the British seaside, which inevitably involved umbrellas and wet weather gear, rather than bikinis and sunlotion. Despite all that I love the beach, and thought an international plush beach party was in order. So, the Plush Team set to work and I can now present to you the best, and possibly weirdest, beach party of 2012........................

First up is an amazing find....real live Kraken spawn created discovered by Squirrel Momma! Yes, the legends are true. But you'd better be careful with it - that glass bottle doesn't look too secure.

Next up we have this rather gorgeous MerCat from Patti Haskins. I can see many a vessel falling under her charms.....

Raggy Rat delved into her family albums for inspiration, and living in Dorset she had many memories of the classic British seaside donkeys..........

Poking sea creatures in rock pools was always a key feature of my childhood summers. I never found such a great specimen as this crabby by Pink Sprinkles Plush though...........

Like me, Plush Goodness loves to look back at vintage snaps of summers long ago and was inspired by their seemingly crazy attire. Meet Edward and Priscilla, and have some good old-fashioned fun!

Now, what self respecting beach party is complete without a someone spiking a watermelon? Ours certainly isn't, and Fluffy Flowers is the culprit. This fantastic plush sculpture comes complete with step-by-step visual guide for use for all you novices!

It looks like these beavers from Careful It Bites are taking safety at the party very seriously. The armbands and lifejacket are very sensible indeed. Well done Mother Beaver.

Bienvenue à la partie Monsieur Le Starfish et Monsieur Le Sandcastle by Out of the Frame, and apologies for the bad French. I'm sure they'll forgive me - the language of the seaside is pretty universal.

Next up we have a rather reluctant guest at the party. This anxious starfish by Hibou Designs would much prefer to be comfortable indoors than sitting on the beach getting poked by people like me.......can't blame him for that.

You might just recognise the scenario portrayed by our next party guests from *might. Unfortunately, sometimes no matter how much suncream you slap on, you come away with more red bits than tanned......

Last, but not least, we have party lighting supplied by the fabulous Bodie Island Lighthouse from Yummy Pancake - keeping us safe and helping the party go on well into the night...............

And if you were wondering more about the inspiration for this month's challenge, here is my representation of the British summer that started it all......

If you'd like to invite any of these fantastic plush to your very own beach party, most of them are available to buy in the Plush Team shop!
